EXPO 2009
This spring we rejuvenated the Pacific Coast Katahdin Hair Sheep Association (PCKHSA) and one event we were looking towards was hosting the Katahdin Hair Sheep International (KHSI) Annual Meeting called 2009 EXPO on the west Coast. Debra Blake and Karen Kenagy from northern Oregon came to the PCKHSA board meeting with a proposal they wanted to present to the KHSI board. In August, the proposal was mailed, followed by a personal presentation from Karen Kenagy at the 2008 Board meeting in Maryland.
GOOD NEWS, we have been accepted!! This is the first time an Annual Meeting for KHSI has been held on the west coast, and it will do several things.
- Get publicity out on our breed.
- Bring needed new blood lines in our breeding stock to the west coast.
- Give members an opportunity for hair coat judging and certification.
- Learn marketing techniques and skills.
- Give members an opportunity to meet and greet other growers, and the list goes on.
Our first discussion and planning meeting will be held in Eagle Point, Oregon at the home of Bill and Susan Orr on Saturday, November 1,2008 at 1:30 PM. If you are able to attend, please do, as your input is vital to the success of this event. Let me know your plans if attending and directions will be provided.
If you cannot attend the planning session, let us know what you can participate to make this event outstanding.
This will be a large undertaking and will require support and hard work from all the members.
